    Chole Bhatura is a dish originated from the Punjab region, but you will find many versions of it in India where the taste are all different. This dish is combination of chana masala and bahtura. The dish is mainly prepare at the occasion of Basakhi, this festival is incomplete without Chole bhature. It is quite tummy filling and heavy food, only two to three bahturas are enough to fill your tummy.

    Ingredients For Chole Bhatura

    Ingredients
    • 1 bowl Chole
    • 1 bowl maida flour
    • 2 tsp oil
    • 1 chopped onion
    • 1/2 bowl coriander leaves
    • 2 green chilly’s
    • 1 inch ginger
    • 1/2 bowl curd
    • 1 tsp red chilly powder
    • 1 tsp coriander powder
    • oil for fry the bhatura
    • 1 tsp turmeric powder
    • Salt
    • 1 tsp Garam masala
    • 1 tsp chole masala
    • 5-6 garlic cloves
    • 1 Bay leaf
    • 1 cardamom
    • 2 red chilly
    • 1 inch cinnamon

    Process For Chole Bhatura Recipe

    Fried onion

    Step 1: Take one pan and heat the oil. Add bay leaf, red chilly, cinnamon and cardamom in warm oil. Let spices splutter there aroma in oil. Then add onion, ginger, garlic cloves and green chilly in mixer grinder bowl and grind it, after that add chopped onion in oil and fry till it convert into the golden brown color and get a smooth texture. After 2 minutes add onion, garlic, green chilly, ginger puree and coriander leaves in this mixture and fry it well.

    Fried Spices

    Step 2: It is time to add red chilly powder, turmeric powder, garam masala, chole masala, coriander powder and salt in this mixture and fry this mixture well. Then add curd in it, after that add chole in this mixture and fry it well, so now it for cover for 3-5 minutes. We need to cover chole for 5 minutes or more because we used chole as it is we purchased from market, so we need to cook this chole for more than 5 minutes also and don’t worry about that. We need to boil chole more time because we need a soft cooked chole. And now our chole is ready.

    Bhatura

    Step 3: Take one mixing bowl add maida, 1 tsp oil and salt in it. Add water and kneed the dough well. Take a deep pan add oil in it and heat the oil. Roll the bhatore and fry it in a deep oil. Fry Bhatura well and drain the oil. Chole-Bhatura is ready.

    Additional Information

    • If you want smooth chhole so boil it fir more that 7-8 minutes.
    • While adding curd in mixture first make that curd soft through blender.
    • Making a bhatura is very easy but make sure you are using deep pan while frying the bhatura.
    • You can use only garam masala in this recipe, use chole masala if it is available at home.
    • At the time of making bhatura make sure your making a soft dough.
    • Add a amchur powder if you want little bit of amchur taste. I am adding it because I will add lemon juice while serving the dish.
